"The Brighton Booth Museum of Natural History showcases over half a million of fascinating natural specimen, as well as detailed data from more than three centuries. The museum’s permanent exhibition includes hundreds of British birds that are displayed in a natural setting, the skeleton of a killer whale, and dinosaur bones. In addition to this, the Brighton Booth Museum of Natural History features regular special exhibitions and educational programs, specifically tailored to various age groups."

"Founded as a Victorian collector’s private museum, the Booth Museum is one of those slightly eccentric collections that the UK seems to specialise in – endless cases of birds displayed in their natural setting (complete with eagles pouncing on lambs) plus skeletons and dinosaur bones. Younger kids will probably be fascinated by it, including the two bears at the entrance, older ones might find it a bit creepier. Free to enter, although you have to walk through the shop on the way in and out."

"This Grade II listed building was built back in 1874 to house the collection of Edward Thomas Booth, the ornithologist. It’s a classic Victorian museum, a gallery lined with display cases on either side. Old fashioned and musty, the museum has a large taxidermy collection and a slightly austere vibe."

Brighton’s fishermen bring in freshly caught fish and shellfish that are used by the many excellent seafood restaurants in the area. "From Portsmouth, you can reach both Fishbourne and Ryde and the reality is that either is a viable option depending on the location of your accommodation on the island. Either way, the journey takes approximately 45 minutes and ferries depart every half hour. If you would rather get across to the Isle of Wight in the shortest amount of time possible, Lymington will likely be your port of call given that you can make the crossing in under 35 minutes. Wightlink also services this port and although it may not have the same glamour as Southampton or Portsmouth, it is certainly a viable choice given that it offers the shortest ferry route."
