"In the southwest corner of Chichester’s wall circuit is a charming garden, looked after by Chichester District Council but not in the register or parks and gardens. You can get in via the Bishop’s Palace Cannon Gate on Canon Lane to be dazzled by immaculate formal flowerbeds against the evocative backdrop of the old walls. The arboretum has some 100 exotic and rare trees, while there’s an Alpine garden, a wildlife garden and a rose pergola entwined with clematis, honeysuckle and climbing roses."

"I used to live right alongside this park and walked a neighbour’s dog here every weekend (Poppet) who was a well known staffy, with the cutest smile. The park was a decent size, while there are plenty of squirrels to feed in the trees. There are 8 tennis courts, however they are largely all used during the summer months, so you have to get there early if you fancy a game on a hot Saturday."

"Back when Brighton was the tiny fishing village of Brighthelmstone, Old Steine Gardens was the village green with a stream running through it. Before long the gardens became a recreation area in a growing resort, and was incorporated the eastern lawns of William IV’s Royal Pavilion. Now it’s a green space in touching distance of all Brighton’s big landmarks, neighbourhoods and cultural venues: Moments south is the Palace Pier, to the east is Kemptown, The Lanes are just to the west, while Royal Pavilion is right next door."

"Did you know that Preston Manor has its own Pets' Graveyard?. It was created around the turn of the 19th Century as the owner of the house was a keen dog lover. The graveyard is still used as a resting place for animals who have worked in service for Brighton & Hove City Council."

"05/04/2021: I checked the menu to find a nice GF, veggie option and ordered rice with prawns. In description it didn't say that prawns were fried in flour. Quite disappointing for someone who doesn't order sushi and has an intolerance."

"Founded as a Victorian collector’s private museum, the Booth Museum is one of those slightly eccentric collections that the UK seems to specialise in – endless cases of birds displayed in their natural setting (complete with eagles pouncing on lambs) plus skeletons and dinosaur bones. Younger kids will probably be fascinated by it, including the two bears at the entrance, older ones might find it a bit creepier. Free to enter, although you have to walk through the shop on the way in and out."
