Things to do with Family & kids in Southampton
"The Lower Garden is at the bottom of a three-kilometre string of green spaces on the course of the Bourne, and is five minutes from the main beach and pier, and five minutes from Bournemouth’s main shopping area. In summer you could while away a few minutes in the shade of the tall cedars and pines, and there’s also a crazy golf course, an aviary, the Pinewalk Bandstand and an outdoor art exhibition. At the end of August the Candlelight Nights is a century-old tradition, when thousands of tea lights are arranged in imaginative designs."
"A post shared by Clare Willats (@thebunnyandthefish) on Jun 30, 2020 at 10:48am PDT. Bournemouth’s full of green spaces that are great for exploring. The Lower Gardens are next to the town centre, but they feel quiet and sedate, so they’re a great spot to relax."
"On Holes Bay at the very north of Poole Harbour is a country park in 130 acres, with a Grade II listed manor house, formal gardens, a stretch of shoreline and parkland. Occasional guided tours of the Regency-era house are offered to the public, but the biggest appeal is the walled garden, which has neatly tended borders and flowerbeds and is edged by a terrace for the park’s tearooms, open seven days a week. There’s a splash fountain in summer, walking and cycling paths to explore, a soft play area in the Courtyard Barn and a plant centre, while segway tours of the estate are available in summer."
"These fantastic gardens have award-winning displays of flowers and also attractions for all of the family, you can access the park from Christchurch Road or directly from the beach. The whole family can enjoy battling it out playing on the 18 hole mini golf course, there is a children’s play area, with swings, see-saw, slides and water play feature, children’s nature trails, multi-use games area and you can hop on the Bournemouth Land Train."
"Just behind Boscombe Pier is a delightful Victorian chine garden that has been regenerated since the 2000s. Over five decades the gardens had become overgrown and associated with antisocial behaviour until they were partially cleared and replanted, all while preserving some of the Victorian resort structures. There are two spa shelters and a lodge, interspersed with colourful flowerbeds."
"Has been Green Flag winners since 1999, these award winning gardens are one of the great places to visit in Bournemouth. It is a place where you can sit and relax to enjoy the pleasant weather of Bournemouth or take a stroll among the beautiful features of the nature.
