Brighton foodie guide: where locals eat and drink
"Former Fat Duck chef Duncan Ray orders fish from local day boats that’s delivered, cooked and served on the day it’s caught; the only way to get fresher seafood is to catch it and cook it yourself. But you’re unlikely to have the sort of technical skills displayed across the five-course set menu at Little Fish Market, which might kick off with a superb Carlingford oyster served with elderflower granita and Jersey cream and continue with turbot with morels, chicken wings, leek and cabbage. The restaurant’s dedicated two-man team is completed by Rob Smith who runs the 22-seat dining room with unmatched charm, making a meal here a relaxed delight."

When we said the best seafood restaurants in Brighton are worth getting excited about, we meant it, as the Little Fish Market is another with widespread critical acclaim. The Little Fish Market – actually in Hove but you’ll forgive the short trip – is owned and managed by chef Duncan Ray who strives to make the most of the freshest and most sustainable British produce."
"Winner of Best Restaurant at the Brighton Restaurant Awards 2020, The Little Fish Market’s seasonally changing menu is beloved by foodies. Ever since chef Duncan Ray first opened LFM in 2013, gourmets from across the UK have flocked to sample the constantly changing, ingredient-led menu at this small (20-cover) restaurant. It’s definitely a blow-the-budget spot (but so worth every penny)."

It’s a restaurant that strives to offer a unique experience that’s a cut above the rest."

"[Read More…](https://quisine.quandoo.co.uk/guide/best-seafood-restaurants-brighton/attachment/regencycomp_/). Regency Restaurant is one of the best seafood restaurants in Brighton because it’s been a permanent fixture of the seafront since the 1930s. It’s one of the oldest and most popular restaurants in Brighton serving local fresh fish and seafood at exceptional value, earning it nationwide and critical acclaim."
"Located on the coast, Brighton is unsurprisingly known for amazing seafood restaurants and The Regency is just that. Nothing short of a staple in the Brighton community, locals love to come here, breathe the fresh sea air and enjoy delicious seafood. They use fresh fish caught daily right in the town and have great seating both inside and out."
"You just love to see it when satiating your appetite beachside. Brighton Shellfish and Oyster Bar isn’t a ‘bar’ in the sense of cocktails and blokes wearing loafers with no socks, but rather a beach shack doing lots of traditional British seaside treats that any seafood lover lusts after. All shellfish is laid out and visible in tubs and on ice, and the place feels as old school as it gets."

"Good for: Oysters, Cockles, Seafood Rolls, Eating on the Beach, Lunch. Okay, maybe this one is a bit cheeky as it’s not a ‘restaurant’ per se, but it’s definitely worth a mention for those who enjoy the finer things in life. For at this unassuming little hut you can get half a dozen Carlingford Oysters for just £6.50."
"Just across from West Street, The Copper Clam is right in the heart of the action on Brighton beach. It's a very trendy restaurant that specialises in top quality seafood, and boasts some excellent views of the coast. The decor is stylish and arty - with an appropriately copper-colour bar - making this one of Brighton's most sought after restaurant destinations."
"Found in the heart of the Brighton Lanes and run by the charismatic Brighton restaurateur, Coco Cowan, D’Arcys is one of Brighton’s premiere sea ..."
"Situated in the popular South Lanes, this double fronted Victorian family run restaurant is an ideal choice for a romantic dinner date. With a fantastic reputation and superb home cooked food, you’ll find succulent dishes to suit everyone from its British bistro style menu. Being tucked away amongst the South Lanes, The House Restaurant boasts a fantastic secluded location along with character and charm and a great atmosphere."
"Intimate little restaurant in the heart of The Lanes Eat indoors in a charming Victorian house or outdoors on the terrace 37 East Street, Brighton BN1 1HLWebsite Tel: 01273 321111"
"Another oldschool Preston Street joint, Good Friends attracts a winning blend of Asian expats and squeamish tourists through the door. And the menu reflects this; plenty of easygoing standard anglo-chinese fare, Tsingtao beer, you get the idea. But delve deeper, if you dare, and skip to the real-deal bits of the menu."
"Craving for some mouthwatering and authentic Chinese specialties?. If so, you should definitely start your engine and drive to Good Friends in Preston Street. It is a charming casual restaurant that offers wonderful Chinese dishes from rice dishes to noodles to appetizers and more."
"One of the biggest appeals to Dyke Road park is the open air theatre, which hosts a number of events throughout the year. A fair number of these performances are ballet based, due to the close proximity with Brighton Ballet School, located inside the park. The park also has an impressive 6 tennis courts, where the Seb Puga tennis academy is located."
"Where in Brighton can you enjoy an undisturbed view of the beach while tucking into al fresco eggs on toast?. Answer: Dyke Road Park. Poised up in Prestonville – Brighton’s highest point – and home to a reasonably priced café, the park is ideal for squinting at the glittering sea over brunch."
"Dyke Road Park is a well-maintained urban park with a network of ornamental pathways and a café with beautiful sea views. It is popular with all age groups. There is a beautiful rose garden in the centre, and the Booth Museum is right opposite the park."
"In amongst this picturesque park, you’ll find the tranquil rockery which will bring an air of calm to your busy weekend in this non-stop city. Relaxing, beautiful and a surefire Insta winner, it’s well worth a little visit. @acreswildgardendesign"
"It is the perfect spot for picnics, sports, or just sitting in the park. It also serves as a prominent venue for concerts, circuses, fairs and so on. The Preston Twins, the world’s largest and oldest Elm trees are also found here."
"05/04/2021: I checked the menu to find a nice GF, veggie option and ordered rice with prawns. In description it didn't say that prawns were fried in flour. Quite disappointing for someone who doesn't order sushi and has an intolerance."
"Gars has been the highlight of the city’s Chinese dining scene for 30 years and deservedly so. They’re justly famed for their exquisite Dim Sum menu which has to be seen to be believed, we’d recommend that you dive in and order some of everything that you fancy as you won’t be disappointed. The day-to-day menu is constantly evolving to reflect the way that people’s tastes change but also how Chinese cuisine is constantly changing too."
