The Best Cafés And Coffee Shops in Oxford
"Opposite a quaint ford and over the brow of an 18-century brick bridge, The Waffle House is well worth the 10-minute walk from St Albans city centre. It sits in the middle of St Michael’s village (a winding road lined with red-brick cottages and ancient pubs) and is housed in a 16th-century watermill. Choose from a menu devoted to Belgian waffles made from organic flour milled just three miles away, including a breakfast special of smoked back bacon, fried banana coins and grilled vine tomatoes."
"Address:Kingsbury Watermill, St Michael’s St, St Albans AL3 4SJSave on Google Maps | Save on Tripadvisor* | Visit Website. No one can visit St Albans without enjoying a visit to the Waffle House. This perennial favourite serves a series of freshly-made sweet and savoury treats inside a former watermill."
"26/04/2021: Sunday lunch at a sunny table outside was a very enjoyable reintroduction to the joys of a pub lunch with friends. Starters were delicious, and the main courses were good, though since a main oven had broken 5 minutes before opening one of the dishes had to be substituted. The manager spontaneously reimbursed the cost of all main courses because of the delay, which showed good will and good intentions."
"Spent a long time searching for the right place for a night away, The Crown is perfect!. Woodstock isn’t big but it’s right in the middle of town with lots of places to eat and drink all around. Also very very close to Blenheim to walk into (ask for directions from a local so you can walk in without paying)."
"24/04/2021: We booked for lunch in the courtyard 7 days in advance in person. Hoping to have a sunny lunch and enjoy the live music. Arrived in time and the only available table was in the shade under a huge umbrella."
"The area is also home to a Pizza Express, Prezzo, a coffee shop and even a Malmaison Hotel – with the rooms located in a converted Victorian prison!. In the past people were dying to leave that building… and now people are paying to stay there…!"
"For instance the 70-acre University Park offers a great place to walk and stretch your legs, watch a free cricket game, or spy on the ducks at the duck pond. You’ll also find several other parks and meadows in the area, including the oldest botanical garden in England. The Oxford Botanic Garden & Arboretum was founded back in 1621!"
"My regular chinese takeaway, has been for about two years now. Food is always great, staff very pleasant, reasonable prices, fantastic!. The chicken satay on…”more"
"If you are looking for a top-notch Chinese restaurant that has a great taste of Asian cuisine then look no more!. Taste the real traditional version of Cantonese and spicy-sweet Sichuan dishes in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. All this is available under one roof that is the New Dancing Dragon restaurant located in the amazing streets of Oxford city."
"We had both been very busy at work and wanted a nice takeaway meal. She was recommended by work colleagues that this restaurant was very good. We are glad we did take that advice."
"Other good colleges to visit include Merton, Magdalen (pronounced ‘mawd-lin’), Corpus Christi, Hertford, All Souls and Oriel. To get an insight into the weird and wonderful world of Oxford academia, take a guided tour led by a former student. Oxford Walking Tours run 90-minute tours which take you around some of the oldest colleges. Along the way you get insider information about the university’s history and rituals (tours cost £12.95 for adults, £11.95 for students/seniors and £5.95 for under 16s)."
"This small but atmospheric Oxford college is free to visit and doesn’t take long to wander around. They’re known as one of the only colleges to still participate in the annual tortoise racing festival in May. You can find the entrance on Merton Street."
