Restaurants - Visit Nottinghamshire
"Even if you’ve not noticed Pieminister’s chain of restaurants popping up on high streets across the country you might still be familiar with their pies (most UK supermarkets sell them). The restaurants stock the same pies you’ll see in the shops alongside a few you won’t, all served up with your choice of sides from mash (standard) through to sweet potato fries, macaroni cheese, and pigs in blankets (and not just at Christmas!). The menu’s cheap as it is (a pie and one side will set you back £7.50) but during lunch (Monday to Friday until 4) a pie and a side is just £6.50."
"After the success of Kevin (allegedly Kevin Keegan is Cockney rhyming slang for vegan), filled with mushroom, tomato, red wine and thyme, comes Chooks Away, a vegan take on a classic chicken pie with tofu and seitan chicken in a smoked garlic and sherry sauce - perfect with the plant-based loaded fries with vegan cheese and caramelised onions. Alternatively, the new vegan Mother Earth will have even the most committed carnivores begging for a slice of vegan action. Accompany a vegan pie with champ mash, garden peas, and a parsnip and kale fritter."

"Finally you'll be able to sit down and eat a burger at the Fat Hippo, one of the restaurants to open slap bang in the middle of lockdown. Burger lovers have been able to get a takeaway from the restaurant in Broad Street, Hockley, since it opened in December 2020, but from April 12 there will be outdoor dining. In front of the restaurant will be seating for 36 people and the full menu - burgers, fries, sides and desserts - will be served."
"Prickly Pear vegan cafe are bringing their incredible plant-based goodness direct to your doorstep via Deliveroo, or you can call to collect on 0115 958 1339. Even if you don't follow a vegan diet their flavorsome dishes will not disappoint, with comforting dishes like creamy Mac 'n Cheese or satisfying Seitan Ribs. Remember our current crisis doesn't mean we should turn forget the climate crisis by reducing our consumption of animal products."
"Prickly Pear is easily one of the best vegan restaurants in Nottingham!. They serve up vibrant and delicious dishes like burgers and tacos, and they do it so excellently you’ll be kicking yourself for not having been here sooner. The cosy café atmosphere and friendly staff work together with the amazing food to make this a vegan scene legend."

The church has both Norman and Saxon stonework but the main fabric of the building dates to the thirteenth century. In and around the church porch there are round 40 Anglo Saxon stones, the largest collection in the world, which were found during restoration work on the church in the 1840s and some ancient stone coffins."
